finding the stone to carve

finding the right piece of stone to carve by hearing if they ring when hit. If the stone has a crack in it or has a high amount of fossils (chert) the sounf the stone would make would be a dull thud.

splitting the stone

you would hammer the pins (plugs and feathers) into drilled holes till the stone naturally spits.

after working on the stone i soon realised that the current links on this corner where impossible and so knocked it off to correct that mistake.
